Huron County Continues To Study Shared Services

Huron County's CAO has presented county council with a report on sharing services.

Meighan Wark explains the idea was previously explored by former CAO Brenda Orchard in 2016 and some of the things they identified as priorities included health and safety programs, the C, E and C program, joint communications with their partner municipalities on economic development and streamlining of services.

Wark says the report she brought back this month built on those ideas to work with their partner municipalities to create a seamless experience for anyone dealing with any municipality or the county and that covered everything from corporate services and public works to cultural services and economic development.

Wark points out Huron County is not alone in encountering some issues in providing easy access to the services they offer but they have identified that as a priority.

According to Wark, "If we are approaching our work in the same way as our partner municipalities then there is a standard established within Huron County; we're all sort of on the same page and provide the same information no matter what door they're coming to with the question."
