Bruce Power has announced $914-million worth of contracts on Monday afternoon, to facilitate it's Major Component Replacement project that will begin in 2020.
Bruce Power's Life Extension Program began in 2016, and remains on time, and on budget, according to President and CEO Mike Rencheck.
The announcement includes the following contracts: -$642-million to BWXT Canada Inc. to manufacture 32 steam generators, to be produced at BWXT's Cambridge facility -$144-million to Laker Enegy Products for end fittings, liners and flow elements, and will be manufactured in Oakville -$66-million for Nu-Tech Precision Metals in Arnprior, to produce zirconium alloy pressure tubes for Units 6 & 3 -$62-million to Cameco Fuel Manufacturing in Cobourg, for calandria tubees and annulus spacers for all six MCRs
By extending the life of Bruce Power's reactors to 2064, the company plans to create 22,000 jobs annually across Ontario, while investing $4-billion per year into the province's economy.
