Local Power Outages Impact Over Two Thousand Sites

There are still a lot of people without power in parts of Midwestern Ontario Tuesday, and other parts of the province.

Over 2,500 customers remained without much heat or light in sections of southern Perth and Huron counties, as well as smaller outages in northern Wellington and southern Bruce counties.

Restoration times for most of those outages are listed as mid-morning to mid-afternoon.

Two schools in Mitchell are closed Tuesday because of the power outage.

Upper Thames Elementary School and Mitchell District High School are closed, with no buses running, because there is no heat or hydro to those schools.

Hydro One is reporting a total of around 40,000 homes and businesses without electricity Tuesday morning -- down from a high of about 300,000 in the early stages of the storm.
