Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller signed this years list of approved recipients for summer jobs funding under duress.
Miller says each year hundreds of local employers apply for the funding, but this year the government forced them to sign an agreement supporting certain values. Miller says they are outside the scope of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
He says 15 organizations that opted not to sign were refused funding, and about $60,000 worth of job funding, as well as 17 student positions, were lost.
Miller says the government sunk to a new level by politicizing youth employment through the Canada Summer Jobs attestation.
Miller says there were organizations that were eligible and should have received funding, but he was forced to sign the incomplete list so other jobs could be created.
