The unemployment rate for the Stratford-to-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region rose slightly in March.
It was up to 4.9% as a result of more people participating in the labour market. At the same time, the provincial unemployment rate in March increased a fraction of a point to 5.7%.
From February to March, there were 500 more people employed in the four county region, mostly the result of increases in full-time work.
There were employment increases in manufacturing and utilities, accommodation and food services.
In contrast, there were fewer people working in health care, social assistance, and culture and recreation.
