The ice has now been taken out of the Bayfield Arena, but there is still a chance it will be back in next season.
After Bluewater council received a proposal from the two community groups in Bayfield that are hoping to take over the arena, Hay West ward Councillor John Gillespie made a motion that the ice goes back in for one more year.
The proposal included a payment from the group of $20,000 to get the ice back in.
Gillespie says the fact that the group was willing to put up that amount of money changed things.
The motion was about to pass when Bluewater council realized they could not pass that motion until they rescinded the motion from last summer to pull the ice.
The motion was tabled until the meeting of April 16.
