Doug Ford In Stratford

Ontario's Progressive Conservative leader stopped in Stratford Wednesday morning at the Dairy X-PO.

Doug Ford talked with people who sat down for breakfast at the Rotary Complex and discussed a number of challenges including balancing the environment and the economy.

"We are all environmentally friendly, I'm environmentally friendly," said Ford. "But I have to make sure people survive, they can put food on the table. I worry about jobs."

Ford pointed to a new prosperity in the province and fending off challenges.

"Right now we've lost 300,000 manufacturing jobs. Farmers are struggling to stay afloat and go to the next generation. It's hard to pass it on to the next generation," added Ford.

And Ford also took a moment to take a jab at the recently released provincial budget.

"It's like me going up to you and asking for $100 and then inviting you out for dinner and the saying I'm going to pay for dinner," said Ford. "People have had it with these high taxes."

Ford says he has discussed the future of agriculture in rural Ontario with local MPPs Lisa Thompson and Randy Pettapiece.
