Sunday Hunting Still Controversial In West Grey

West Grey residents appear to be split on allowing hunting on Sundays, and it may lead to rescinding a recently-passed motion on the issue.

West Grey council recently voted to allow hunters to hunt on Sundays, however, the decision has received considerable opposition in the time since the motion was approved.

Mayor Kevin Eccles says he has received phone calls and emails, noting residents want to open up the issue to more public discussion.

Elizabeth Zetlin, who spoke as a delegation on Monday, says West Grey's own branding of "Nestled in Nature" in its 2020 Action Plan is proof that the municipality could use a "No Hunting on Sunday" policy as a marketing opportunity.

There is a petition online with 250 signatures that have stated their support for West Grey's decision to allow Sunday hunting.
