Mansbridge Honoured To Be Part Of United Way Perth-Huron

Retired CBC News Anchor Peter Mansbridge called it a real honour to be the keynote speaker at the United Way Perth-Huron's Spirit of Community celebration in Stratford last week.

Mansbridge admits it's a little intimidating speaking in front of 300 very generous people.

"There's a lot of dedicated people in there," he says. "They've all ponied up for seats at the table to be part of the evening, but much more than that - they've been part of the United Way drive."

Mansbridge says he's very grateful to be part of the community served by the Perth-Huron United Way.

He also explained that he's been very busy since his retirement.

"I'm doing a lot of speeches around the county and I'm also doing some documentaries for the CBC, so a different pace than what I was used to for fifty years of doing the evening news, either anchoring or reporting it," he says. "Now it's a different kind of travel and a different kind of work but I'm really enjoying it."
