"Ice Hogs" and "Heat Seekers" Raise Nearly $2K for Victim Services Huron

The annual "Ice Hogs" and "Heat Seakers" game in Blyth last weekend raised more than $1900 for Victim Services Huron.

The Huron County OPP "Ice Hogs" and the North Huron Fire Department "Heat Seekers" squared off in a friendly competition at the Blyth Arena last Saturday.

In a release, the OPP say the Heat Seekers started out strong, scoring what the they thought was an early goal when it was immediately waived off by the head referee, retired OPP Constable Don Shropshall. While the OPP admit there may have been some bias, it was the right call and the Ice Hogs ended up with a 3-0 lead heading into the third.

The Heat Seekers finally got on the board early in the final frame and then again before the game was over. However the Heat Seekers scored three more times and ended up winning the game 6-2.

Executive Director for Victim Services Huron, Deb Logue says they were "delighted with how our annual fundraising game turned out."

She went on to say: "I would like to thank all of the fans, generous businesses and volunteers for their support in making this game such a success."

Haley McNeil of Teeswater sang the national anthem and Dawson Hallahan assisted with the ceremonial puck drop. Hallahan lost his brother Logan to a tragic accident and dropped the puck in his memory.
