The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has received a grant through the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund.
The $25,000 contribution will go toward wetland projects, tree planting, and a rain garden in Hensall.
ABCA Wetlands Specialist Angela Van Niekerk says they'll be planting 15 acres of trees on different sites and four acres of tallgrass prairie on a site near Ailsa Craig. Those areas will act as filters to reduce some of the nutrients that go into the Ausable and Bayfield Rivers, and eventually Lake Huron.
Plans include two watershed wetland restorations and a community rain garden that will involve the Hensall Public School and Thompson's.
