Western And Southwestern Ontario YMCAs Consider Merger

The YMCAs of Western Ontario and Southwestern Ontario are looking at a possible merger.

Kathi Lomas-McGee is the Interim CEO and President for YMCA of Southwestern Ontario.

“Our boards, both the CEOs and our senior staff recognize that we have a really strong alignment in mission, vision, and values in our programming and we really see that as a regional YMCA that we have an opportunity to serve our current communities better as well as communities that we're currently not engaging with and being served,” she explains. “This unification plan will allow YMCAs to access the benefits of a regional organization while maintaining strong local leadership and community-level connections so that the local YMCAs look and feel like the communities they serve.”

Lomas McGee says the two boards will make a decision later this summer, after looking over the business plans and transition plans for the merger.
