Wellington North Preparing For Growth

Wellington North held an open house in Mount Forest Wednesday evening to consider how the community wants to handle an influx of new residents over the next 25 years.

The township’s population is expected to grow by at least 5,000 residents and local employment by over 2,000 jobs by the year 2041.

The draft Community Growth Plan discusses strategies and targets for handling population growth.

Mayor Andy Lennox says it also means planning for infrastructure, transportation and community services.

Lennox said he was pleased with the public turnout in Mount Forest, where people expressed their strong tie with the downtown and their desire to make the town more "people friendly."

Another public meeting will be held in Arthur next Wednesday to view the draft of the Community Growth Plan.
