Community Hub Being Investigated For North Perth

North Perth wants to try to bundle up local social services.

CAO Kris Snell says that the municipality is working with United Way Perth Huron on a feasibility study into a community hub to house social services and organizations.

Snell notes they have a location preference in mind.

"So we are looking for something that is close to the downtown core, that is the preferred option from the findings from the service organizations that we met with through the study," says Snell. "So we're just taking a look at what's possibly available in the downtown core for a hub."

Snell points out the library could potentially be investigated as a site for the community hub, but the planning is still in the very early stages.  Because a lot of the organizations are spread and out, and some don't even have hours within Listowel, the hub would be helping the organizations be more centralized and visible.

"Some of them don't have office hours here, some have limited hours here, so we want to create a community hub to house all social, health and community services in one convenient location," says Snell.
