OHL Wrap Up: Attack Lose to Rangers

Kitchener 5 Owen Sound 1

Markus Phillips was the lone scorer for the Attack as Owen Sound lost 5-1 to Kitchener.

Phillips' goal was unassisted midway through the third.

The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first with goals by Greg Meireles, Joseph Garreffa and Rickard Hugg. Connor Bunnaman made it 4-0 with a power play goal at 3:36 of the second. Jack York also scored for the Rangers.

Olivier Lafrenière stopped 22 shots for the Attack. Luke Richardson made 27 saves for Kitchener.

Kitchener leads the Midwest Division with 46 points. Owen Sound continues to slide down the standings and is barely above last place Erie with 33 points to the Otters 28.

Flint 3 London 2 (SO)

C.J. Clarke forced extra time at 8:08 of the third and the Flint Firebirds went on to beat London 3-2 in a shoot out.

Maurizio Colella was the only player to score in the shoot out.

Both of London goals game in the second period when Sam Miletic and Evan Bouchard scored just over three minutes apart.

Jalen Smereck put the Firebirds on the board late in the first.

Joseph Raaymakers left the game with just over five minute left int he second with an apparent leg injury. He'd stopped 28 of 29 shots. Jordan Kooy made 16 saves in relief.

Rookie netminder Luke Cavallin stopped 19 of 21 shots for the Firebirds.

Guelph 3 Peterborough 1

Isaac Ratcliffe struck twice including the game winner as the Guelph Storm topped Peterborough 3-1.

Ratcliffe's go-ahead-goal came just two minutes into the second, assisted by Owen Lalonde.

Tag Bertuzzi added insurance just over two minutes later.

The Petes lone goal came courtesy of Nikita Korostelev who scored on the power play just 4:19 into the first period, assisted by Jonathan Ang and Matthew Timms.
