People-Power Still Used In Minto To Count Municipal Ballots

Minto is sticking with humans to count ballots in the 2018 municipal election.

Mayor George Bridge says there’s never been a problem with people hired to count ballots, and the money paid out to local residents is money that stays in the municipality.

The cost of leasing electronic ballot counters is about $15,000 compared to about half that amount to hire people.

Minto will continue to use the mail-in ballot.
