The administrative leadership of the Bluewater District School Board will remain the same for another term.

As part of the initial meeting of the board Tuesday, elections were held for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair.

Ron Motz, the trustee for the Municipality of West Grey and the Town of Hanover, was acclaimed as chair for a fourth term.

Jan Johnstone, a trustee for the Municipality of Kincardine and the Township of Huron-Kinloss, continues as vice-chair for a third term.

Trustees are now entering the final year of the 2014-2018 term.

In a news release, the board stated that over the past 12 months, it has secured a budget surplus for the first time in a long while, developed more community partnerships, moved forward with responsible stewardship of resources, and ensured the board has a voice in provincial decisions affecting rural education.

Trustees have also advocated for expanded learning in school curriculum related to the history and culture of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples.
