United Way Care-A-Van A Big Success

The United Way Perth-Huron completed its 7th annual Care-A-Van of Hope on Thursday.

Campaign Chair Andrew Williams explains the Care-A-Van stopped at every Scotiabank branch in the two counties so St. Marys, Exeter, Goderich, Listowel, Milverton, Mitchell and Stratford. Businesses and individuals were also invited to donate in the two weeks leading up to the Care-A-Van and Williams says in that time and including money raised on the Care-A-Van the total was 194-thousand dollars and Scotiabank is matching the first fifteen-thousand dollars of that.

Williams says they're very happy to be at about sixty per cent of their goal of 1.5 million dollars but they still have a lot of work today and the campaign doesn't come to an end until the end of March.

“We visit all the Scotiabank branches across Huron-Perth and the two weeks leading up to that businesses and individuals are welcome to donate through the bank or to the United Way. It was a great day, weather co-operated. Total money raised – 194-thousand dollars, so absolutely incredible.”

“We've got a long way to go. Touchdown really is end of March. We're at about sixty per cent of our 1.5 million goal. We've very happy with how things are going. We have a lot of work ahead though to do and we're very lucky that we live in such a caring and giving community.”
