Teenage Shoppers Wanted By Grey Bruce Health Unit

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking teenagers to visit stores to ensure they're complying with tobacco regulations.

Tobacco Program Manager Angela Newman says youth between the ages of 15 and 18 would visit stores outside of their hometowns, and attempt to purchase tobacco or electronic cigarettes.

She says they often hear about safety concerns, but ensures the safety of the teens is the main priority, and the children are trained to leave the store immediately if they feel something is wrong.

Newman says this is a program the health unit has conducted for years, and helps ensure local business owners are aware of tobacco legislation, and a check to see if proper training is being provided to employees.

The deadline to apply is Friday, December 15.
