The Reeve of North Huron has confirmed reports that the township is relying on neighbouring municipalities for fire service after a large number of fire fighters quit.
Neil Vincent confirmed the rumours to CKNX News this morning, saying: "There has been a disruption and there is mutual aid through the county fire group" covering the area.
Vincent did not say all of the fire fighters quit, but did say it was a large number of them.
He would not confirm reports the dispute is over the hiring of a new Fire Chief.
North Huron hired Ryan Ladner as the Director of Fire and Emergency Services in March. But he informed council a week ago that he had accepted a new position, and his last day in North Huron would be December 11th. Ladner would not reveal what his new job was, or where.
There is a special council meeting scheduled for later this afternoon to address the issue and Vincent said he would be providing more details at that time.
