Wes For Youth Online hosts an Open Mic Night for Mental Health in Walkerton in hopes of breaking down barriers and encouraging people to accept people for who they are.
Five speakers will share their stories with tears and laughter, in hopes that talking about their issues will help them and others.
Chesley resident Janet Wright organized the fundraiser, and her son Spencer is one of the speakers. She says Spencer will share a very touching story about coming out as gay and transgender.
Speaker and MC Jackie Ralph will talk about her issues with mental health growing up, special guest Josh Yandt will talk about bullying, speaker Brandi Gowan will talk about parenting and mental health, Don Barlow talk about being an accident survivor.
Wright hopes this will be the first in a series of monthly open mic fundraisers.
Doors open at the Walkerton Golf Course at 6:30pm Monday evening, with speakers from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
Everyone is welcome and tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 at Wes For youth, The Walkerton Golf Course, Hoslt Office Pro in Walkerton and Hanover, and from Janet Wright.
