Huron County OPP are bringing an anti-bullying message to Seaforth today. Community Safety Officer Constable Jamie Stanley is speaking to students this afternoon at St. James Catholic Elementary School. This is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, and Huron OPP are reminding youth and parents of the dangers of bullying. Stanley says bullying is not normal, and not acceptable, anywhere at anytime. He's encouraging students to "have someone's back" by supporting a friend or classmate they recognize as being bullied. Bullying stops in most cases within 10 seconds of someone intervening. Stanley says bullying is known to cause serious physical and psychological harm including depression, anxiety, and the risk of suicide. Some forms of bullying are considered a criminal offence. Huron OPP supports community agencies collaborating and setting goals to promote bullying awareness, and support victims If you are being bullied, or know someone that is, remember you are never alone.
