The Vice-President of the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health says the success of two Huron County nurses in advancing their careers through a distance education with Gateway and Nipissing University has led to further partnerships with the two institutions.
Gwen Devereaux explains the mandate of Gateway is to help healthcare providers further their education and their careers and the distance education Program with two Huron County nurses is doing just that.
Devereaux says Jolanda Smith and Ally Timmermans have now completed their third year of their Bachelor of Science in nursing and two more students are scheduled to take the same course next year. Devereaux says they're very happy with the partnership with Nipissing and hope to expand it further in the future.
“So we have two nurses who are practical nurses and now they are doing their Bachelor of Science in nursing and they have completed their third year. So, yes, we're looking forward to an on-going relationship with Nipissing. We're very pleased.”
