Speedy Trip Through Centre Wellington Gets Costly

A man from Elora is getting more than just a speeding ticket.

An OPP officer monitoring traffic Tuesday night on Second Line of Nichol Township in Centre Wellington registered a car that was travelling well above the posted speed limit.

The 2004 Mazda RX8 coupe was locked on radar over 200 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The 23-year-old driver from Elora had his vehicle and licence seized for seven days.

He's been charged with dangerous driving, racing, operating an unsafe vehicle, failing to notify of a change of address, failing to have an insurance card, failing to surrender a motor vehicle permit, failing to surrender a licence, and driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit.

He's to appear in Guelph court next month.
