Drone Use A Concern Of Some North Huron Council Members

North Huron Deputy Reeve James Campbell thinks farmers are going to "start taking matters into their own hands if illegal drone use isn't addressed" in Huron County.

Campbell made the comments as members of Huron OPP made a presentation to North Huron council on Monday regarding emergency services call statistics in North Huron.

Interim OPP Detachment Commander Terry Hamilton says he's looked at the numbers, and there isn't a large spike in reports of illegal drone use in Huron County. He feels the situation is gaining momentum by word of mouth only.

Several members of council felt that the drones present a safety issue, with some suspected of scouting properties before they're robbed at a later date.

Commander Hamilton encourages residents to contact police if they're feeling unsafe due to a nearby drone, or if they're feeling unsafe about any matter, saying "If you don't like what you see, call the OPP".
