GOJHL Wrap: Cyclones Win To Take Over League Lead

Listowel 3 Kitchener 1

Brady Anderson's power play goal at 18:04 of the first would stand as the game winner in the Listowel Cyclones 3-1 win over Kitchener.

Chayse Herrfort and Keaton Willis set up both of the Cyclones' goals in the first period, both on the power play. Caleb Warren opened the scoring for Listowel at 7:23 of the first.

The second period saw neither team score. Matt Marinier spoiled Justin Hergott's shut out bid with a goal for the Dutchmen at 12:30 of the third. Mitch Deelstra added insurance for the Cyclones at 14:38 of the final frame.

Hergott stopped 22 shots for the Cyclones. Riley Daniels made 25 saves for the Dutchmen.

Listowel is first in the GOJHL with 32 points and a 16-3-0-0 record. The Caledonia Corvairs of the Golden Horseshoe Conference are in second with 31 points and a 15-2-0-1 record.

Brampton 4 Elmira 3

Brampton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and held off a late Elmira rally to win 4-3.

Patrick Del Vecchio's power play goal at 3:53 of the second stood as the game winner. Jeff Jordan put the Sugar Kings on the board with an unassisted goal at 12:59 of the second.

Ethan Skinner and Ethan Wiseman each had two points for the Sugar Kings with a pair of assists.

Elmira out shot the Bombers 45-30. Joshua Eisfeld made 42 saves for the Bombers.  Rhett Kimmel allowed all three of the Bombers first period goals and was replaced before the opening frame was over. Tyler Mazzocato stopped 15 shots in relief for the Sugar Kings.

Guelph 5 Stratford 1

The Guelph Hurricanes scored once in the first and three times in the second without a reply from the Warriors and beat Stratford 5-1.

Graham Brulotte put the Warriors on the board with a power play goal two minutes into the third.

Guelph was led by Liam Buckley with a goal and an assist.

Trenton McGrail stopped 44 shots for the Hurricanes who were out shot 45-26. Andrew Vigliatore took the loss for the Warriors.

Waterloo 6 Brantford 2

The Waterloo Siskins out shot the Brantford 99ers 55-28 and went on to win 6-2.

Brantford's Eric Eschweiler opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the game but it was barely a minute and a half before the Siskins' Brett Schaefer answered for Waterloo. Parker Casey scored 43 seconds later to make it 2-1 Waterloo and Schaefer scored his second of the game at 18:05 to make it 3-1 Waterloo heading into the second.

Alex Potter extended the Siskins lead just over three minutes into the second with a power play goal assisted by Alex Lycett and Matthew Prucha.  Mitchell Devins-Cann scored on the power play for Brantford at 15:33 of the middle frame.

Zach Leonard scored at 9:35 of the third and Sam Spaedt extended the Siskins lead at 12:11 to make the final score 6-2

Jesse Hodgson took the loss for Brantford with 49 saves. Brett Miller stopped 26 shots for the Siskins.

The Siskins were let by Lycett with three assists. Spaedt scored and set up two for Waterloo.
