GOJHL Wrap: Warriors Win Against Guelph

Stratford 7 Guelph 2

Corson Searles struck twice, both times on the power play in the latter half of the third as Stratford beat Guelph 7-2.

Kaleb Pearson led the Warriors with two goals and an assist. Jack Scanlan set up three of the Warriors goals including both of Searles goals.

Ruan Badenhorst made 29 saves to earn the win. Jet Greaves stopped 33 shots for the Hurricanes.

Seasmus Mooney and Tyler Harrison scored for Guelph.

The Warriors are in second place in the Midwestern Conference, tied with first place Listowel with 28 points but one less game played.

Brantford 5 Brampton 4

Louis Latta scored the game winner midway through the second as the Brantford 99ers held off the Brampton Bombers 5-4.

Brampton opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game but Brantford answered with three back-to-back goals to take a 3-1 lead just past the midway point of the opening frame. The Bombers scored with 5:35 left in the period to make it 3-2 Brantford heading into the second.

The Bombers scored twice in a 90 second span in the second to take the lead before Hunter Dubecki netted the equalizer at 9:44.

Neither team was able to score in the third. Jesse Hodgson earned the win with 34 saves.  Joshua Eisfeld stopped 31 shots for the Bombers.

Branford was led by Jack Gaffney with two goals and an assist. Patrick Del Vecchio set up two of the Bombers goals.

Despite the win, Brantford is still one point back of the Bombers in last place in the Midwest with 11 points. The Bombers have 12.
