Windy Weather in Midwestern Ontario Forecast

Rain and high winds are in the forecast for this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the following areas for Saturday into Sunday:

  • Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County
  • Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
  • Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
  • Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County
  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
  • Saugeen Shores - Kincardine - Southern Bruce County
  • Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory
The weather agency says a cold front moving through the region will increase wind speeds to 70-80 km/hr. Wind gusts of up to 90km/hr are possible.

Wind gusts like this may cause damage to power lines and blow off tree limbs, since many trees are in full or partial leaf.

Winds are expected to taper off by Sunday evening.
