Two men are in police custody following two separate break and enter incidents in Huron County.
This past Thursday just after 4am, the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an attempted break and enter after a Goderich homeowner on Oxford St. saw a man on her surveillance camera, trying to break into her backyard shed.
The man ran from the scene as police arrived but officers were notified of a second break and enter attempt at a nearby home on Tilt St. A suspect was located a short distance away from the second home, and was arrested.
Brent Lawrence, 25, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is now charged with three counts of trespassing at night, two counts of break and enter to commit mischief, two counts of mischief and one count of failing to comply with a bail conditions.
And then on Saturday at around 7:30am, Huron County OPP responded to another break and enter, this time in Hensall.
Police say a property owner interrupted the thief who was attempting to break in a location on King St., and chased the man away.
Officers searched the area with the K9 unit to find a suspect, who was later located at a nearby apartment building. During the arrest, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and provided officers with a fake name.
As a result, 28-year-old Nicholas Halley of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of break and enter to commit theft, resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer and fail to comply with a probation order.
