One man is in custody after police in Hanover seized a firearm and ammunition.
Police received a report Sunday morning that a man was in the kitchen area of the Park Pavilion in the 700-block of 7th Ave. in Hanover.
Officers located the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Eric Simmons of no fixed address. Simmons was allegedly in possession of break-in instruments that included wire cutters, bolt cutters, pliers and flash lights.
He was also allegedly in possession of a mask, pepper spray, a sawed off 12 gauge shot gun, ammunition, methamphetamine and a stolen mountain bike.
Simmons was taken into custody.
Charges laid include possession of break-in instruments, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The Hanover Police Service continues this investigation and is looking to identify the owner of a white mountain bike that is believed to have been stolen in the town.
According to Police Chief Christopher Knoll, "This investigation has resulted in a very dangerous firearm and ammunition being taken off of our streets. It's a great example of our citizens and the police working together to ensure that our community remains safer."
