Guelph-Eramosa Teacher And Pastor Face Historic Sex Assault Charges

The principal at Elora Road Christian School and the former pastor and founder of the Elora Road Christian Fellowship Church are both facing sexual assault charges involving minors.

Wellington County OPP refer to the charges as "historic in nature," and in a news release say the alleged offenses happened between 1981 and 1986.

Police say 66-year-old Arend "John" DeKorte was a teacher at the school during that time and 80-year-old Henry "Henk" Katerberg was was the church's founder and pastor at the time.

Katerberg is facing one count of sexual assault on a child under 16.  He is due in court February 14.

DeKorte is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child under 16.  He is due in court January 31.
