Cyclones No Longer Undefeated

Guelph 3 Listowel 2

Anthony Mota scored twice, just over two minutes apart in the third period to give Guelph a 3-2 win over Listowel. Mota assisted on the Hurricanes first goal of the game.

The Cyclones are now 4-1 to start the GOJHL season.

Listowel got goals from Brady Anderson and Bryce McFadden.

The Hurricanes were 2-5 on the power play.

Justin Hergott suffered the loss for Listowel, giving up three goals on 19 shots. Jet Greaves made 18 saves for the win.

With the win the Hurricanes move into second in the Midwestern Conference with a 4-0-1-0 record. The Stratford Warriors are the only unbeaten team remaining in the Midwest.

Waterloo 3 Brantford 2

Waterloo led 2-0 after the first two periods and held on to beat Brantford 3-2.

The Siskins were led by Alex Cycett with a pair of goals including the game winner at 15:35 of the third. Brett Schaefer also scored for Waterloo.

Brantford got goals from Max Racicot and Christian Polillo.

Brett Miller earned the win for Waterloo with 37 saves. Cameron Gratton stopped 28 shots for the 99ers.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
