C-Bridge
Preliminary work is set to begin on construction of a bridge on the Morrison Trail that would eliminate the need for people using the trail to walk along part of Morrison Line.
Water and Planning Manager Alec Scott explains the road is fairly narrow at that point and the shoulders are limited so that creates a problem for traffic as well as a risk to pedestrians.
The committee has been fund-raising for some time to construct the bridge and now has about 140-thousand dollars and the ABCA board has approved their request to hire a consulting engineer to design and construct the piers that will hold the bridge up.
Scott says once they're decided on the exact location and the piers are in place they will place a prefabricated bridge on top of the piers. Scott adds they're hoping to get the piers in place next spring and then finish the bridge over the summer.
“And then at Morrison Line they usually, if they want to cross over there, they usually end up walking on the roadway's very narrow with limited shoulder so it creates a bit of a problem for traffic and a bit of a danger for pedestrians in just walking along the edge of the road.”
“And then decide what we would need for piers under the bridge and approaches to the bridge and that type of thing. The requirement to have some consulting engineering assistance really relate to we need to have the piers properly designed and constructed.”
