Support For Grey Bruce Municipalities To Ensure Safe Sports, Recreation Programs

The Grey Bruce Health Unit wants to help municipalities develop and implement a concussion policy.

A new toolkit will provide protocols, reference tools, and resources municipalities can use to create a safe sport and recreation culture.

Research shows that young athletes are at particular risk of concussions. Among Ontario Students, concussions represent 21% of treated injuries.

Municipalities also meet the fund to apply for the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund.

It aligns with the Ontario Physical Education Safety Guidelines Concussion Protocol and the first ever Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
