(BlackburnNews.com photo)Wellington North councillors had a mixed reaction to a suggestion by the province that anyone seeking a seat on municipal council get 25 signatures of support.
While most councillors didn’t think it would be terribly difficult to get the 25 signatures, several expressed concerns that it might be tough in a small municipality of a few hundred voters.
There was also concern that verifying the signatures might make extra work for municipal staff.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
