The new director of the Perth-Huron United Ways Social Research and Planning Council addressed Central Huron council Tuesday night. Susanna Reid was looking for support for the new myPerthHuron website and some input on what information municipalities would like to see on the website.
Reid explains the website was launched in March to replace the Quality of Life report that was published every four years as a way of tracking trends in communities in Perth and Huron. Reid points out the big advantage of a website is that it can be updated regularly as new information becomes available. She says the website looks at life quality issues like employment and economic development, how the population is changing, who's leaving and who's arriving and where are they going.
Reid says she'll be making her presentation to all of the lower-tier municipal councils asking them what else they'd like to see on the website and if they'll share the data that they have.
“The myPerthHuron website is a way to track community well being. It replaces the quality of life report that the Social Research and Planning council was producing every four years. The advantage of the website is that it can change regularly as we have new information about trends in the community," she says. “With regards to what information people and agencies would like to see on the web site, what questions people would like to see answered, so how the population is changing, what type of people are living in Huron County, who's leaving and who's arriving and where are they going.”
