North Stars Earn a Bye of First Round Playoffs

The Owen Sound North Stars swept the Ennismore James Gang with a 9-6 win yesterday and clinched second place in the league earning a bye of the first round playoffs. The win comes a day after beating the James Gang 13-6 on Saturday.

Zach Thompson struck twice in the first period and step up three more to lead the Owen Sound North Stars offense. Brett Kloepfer and Robbie Milnes each had a goal and two assists for three points and Brady Heseltine had three goals.

The James Gang and North Stars traded goals in the opening frame with the visiting team answering Thompson's goals and tying the game twice before Heseltine put the North Stars ahead for good at 18:09 of the first.

Heseltine scored again in the first minute of the second period to give the North Stars a two goal lead, a lead they maintained for the remainder of the game.
