Kincardine residents will celebrate Canada's 150th Saturday with the help of hockey legend Paul Henderson.
Henderson was #19 on Team Canada 1972, and went on to score the goal of the century in the Canada Russia Summit Series.
Henderson decided to attend Kincardine, over an invitation from the Government of Canada to join the celebration in Ottawa.
Henderson was actually born on the ice at Kincardine on January 28, 1943, and went on to rule the ice.
Henderson's mother went into labour while staying at a farm in Amberley, and she gave birth as she was being taken by horse and sleigh going across frozen lake Huron to Kincardine Hospital.
In commemoration of that, Paul and his wife Eleanor will be taken by horse and carriage, along the shore on Saugeen St., and on to the hospital for a Paul Henderson Bronze Plaque unveiling ceremony at 9:30am.
Then they join the Canada Day parade, down to the flagpole, where Henderson will make a speech.
The day's festivities will also include the Pipe Band, cake, a Family Fun Zone, the Community Singers, The Kincardine Scottish Parade, and a giant Canada Day 150 Fireworks display at dusk at the lakeshore.
