Wellington County Launches Program To Attract New Workers

Wellington County has launched a new Live and Work Wellington initiative to promote the region as a desirable place to live and work.

The program is aimed at supporting the labour market needs of area employers and attracting new groups of people to offset declining population trends.

The goal is to develop partnerships with local post secondary institutions to raise awareness of jobs in Wellington, and of the needs of local employers.

The county will also develop a Wellington County job board, promote the region at the Newcomer Fairs and host immigration and employment workshops for international students.

The county will work to help employers improve their attraction and retention of immigrants and international students, along with millennials.

Economic Development Committee Chair George Bridge says the county must attract new residents and a new labour force to help businesses grow.

“We are very proud to be officially launching the Live and Work WellingtonTM campaign,” says Warden Dennis Lever. “The County of Wellington is committed to helping businesses succeed and we understand that workforce is a major challenge as we work towards that goal. The Live and Work WellingtonTM campaign will help grow and diversify Wellington County’s workforce.”
