Owen Sound police arrested a man at a local liquor establishment Sunday night, after getting a tip that he may be armed with a large butcher knife.
Police responded to the business around 9:20 and found the man as he was trying to leave. He had a 13 inch kitchen knife in his rear pants pocket.
The man initially provided a false name, but further investigation determined his real identity, and he was currently before the courts on outstanding criminal charges as well as being on two probation orders.
The 48-year-old man from the Brantford-area, who now lives in Owen Sound, was arrested.
He's to appear in Owen Sound court today for a bail hearing. He's been charged with Weapons Dangerous, Obstruct Police Officer, Breach of Officer in Charge Undertaking, and 4 counts of Breach of Probation.
Owen Sound police say the actions of the anonymous caller may have prevented a more serious incident.
