Provincial police have cordoned off a farm property in southern Bruce County as they search for a man thought to be carrying a gun.
The OPP received a call late Wednesday afternoon by someone reporting a man who was illegally in possession of a firearm at a property west of Lucknow.
Roads around the farm on Belfast Rd., north of Kintail, were closed while police, the OPP Emergency Response Team and a Canine unit searched for the man. He was not found. Thursday morning, the OPP confirmed they have extended their search to a property just south of Ripley, near Concession 4 and 6.
Police have since cleared the scene at the farm on Belfast Rd., but officers are still searching the property south of Ripley. Access to the area remains restricted.
The suspect is described as 29-years-old, 6'0" tall, medium build, and weighing about 200 lbs. He has black hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown sweatshirt.
Police are asking people to secure their homes and vehicles and call them immediately if you see any suspicious activity.
At this time the OPP has told CKNX News that the search was triggered after a call was made about a man with a gun and when responding officers arrived to the area, there were alleged threats made to police.
A helicopter joined in the search Thursday afternoon.
