Huron County Trio Plead Guilty to Hunting Offences

Three Huron County men have been fined a total of $2,750 for deer hunting offences.

Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich heard that in late December, conservation officers from Clinton received a call from a landowner regarding individuals who had been trespassing to hunt deer.

Game camera video showed three men dragging a dead deer out of the bush, without a seal attached.

The three men were identified through an investigation by the Guelph and Midhurst Enforcement Units, and the MNRF canine unit.

One man pleaded guilty and was fined a total of $1,500 for two counts of trespassing to hunt deer, and $250 for failing to immediately attach his game seal to a deer.

The other two men pleaded guilty and were each fined $500 for trespassing to hunt.

Hunters are reminded that they must obtain permission from the landowner before hunting on private land.
