Chapman House In Owen Sound To Open June 1

The Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is set to begin providing patient care in their new location June 1.

Chapman House was built in Owen Sound after the community responded with generosity to a fundraising campaign.  Construction began in April of 2016.

Chapman house will provide expert end-of-life care for up to eight clients at a time, with new features to enhance patient and family experience.

Executive Director Scott Lovell says they have served Grey Bruce for four years from their temporary location, and are now excited to move to a space built for their needs, with a home life atmosphere.

A number of events are planned for may to allow the community to celebrate the new facility.

Those include a fundraising draw, hike for hospice, and a fundraising gala.

“The construction of Chapman House was made possible through the generosity of people across the region,” says volunteer Board Chair Rob Cordell. “And because of their commitment and support for our new home, we wanted to make sure that we got a chance to show as many people as possible what they helped us build.  But we wanted to do so before we began the process of admitting patients, so that their care is not disrupted.  This really is a community hospice and a community celebration.”
