Goderich Council Abandons Helipad For Hospital

Goderich council is no longer considering putting a helipad on municipally-owned land across from the hospital.

Patients who have to be transported by air are currently being met by a helicopter at the airport. One of the arguments against locating a helipad closer to the hospital was that the land in question is environmentally clean and could be putter to better use by putting a building related to health care on that site. Mayor Kevin Morrison explains the discussion ended when it was confirmed that patients on stretchers are not allowed to cross a public road so they would have to be loaded on to an ambulance to cross the road to get to the helipad.

Morrison says that item has now been removed from council's agenda.
