New Attraction At Sauble Beach This Summer

There should be some fun in the air this summer at Sauble Beach.

South Bruce Peninsula council and Burnt Coast Incorporated have signed a site plan agreement for construction of an aerial adventure park, set to open this summer on Lakeshore Boulevard in Sauble Beach.

Owner Mike Robinson says the park will have three elevated platforms with 30 different obstacles.

"It's going to have a jump tower, which is you climb up a 40 ft tower, go to the edge, hook yourself up and then just jump off," says Robinson.  "It sounds pretty simple but it's pretty exhilarating and exciting when you're actually into it."

Robinson says it will also have a rock climbing wall, adding they are aiming to attract both kids and adults, pointing out they want the park to fit with Sauble Beach's family-friendly image.

He says with the site plan agreement in place, they will now apply for a building permit.  Construction will take about six weeks to complete, and then the park staff will have to be trained before the park can open.

Robinson says if all goes according to plan, they should be open by July 1.

Mayor Janice Jackson says the park will be a welcome addition to Sauble Beach, adding that attractions have been disappearing from Sauble Beach since the closure of the Sauble Beach Fun World amusement park after the 2012 season.

"We don't have the trampolines or the go-karts, we've got very little up there except for the beach itself." says Jackson. "We're excited about having something interesting for kids and adults."
