“The County of Perth recognizes the significance of Canada’s 150th Anniversary celebrations and is pleased to announce the official launch of the Perth County Tartan," says Perth County Warden Meredith Schneider.

The Perth County Tartan colours were taken from the Perth County Crest and the Perth County Logo to reflect the past and the present.

The shades of green represent agriculture while blue represents the many rivers and creeks flowing through the county.

Red is for the blood sacrificed by the early settlers and veterans who gave their lives for future generations.

Gold signifies the industrious nature of the people in Perth County.

"Tartan Day and Canada’s Sesquicentennial Anniversary provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the important contributions our Scottish immigrants and their descendants have made to our rural communities,” says John Nater, MP for Pert-Wellington.

Randy Pettapiece, MPP for Perth-Wellington says, “The Perth County Tartan represents the county -- its past, present and future -- so very well."
