First Ship Into Port Of Goderich

The first ship of the season has docked in the Goderich Port.

The Robert S. Pierson arrived at 9:30pm Wednesday night.

Town of Goderich Administrator Larry McCabe and Director of Operations Chip Wilson boarded the vessel about two hours later to present Captain Ted Brown with the traditional top hat.

The presentation was on short notice, because the vessel was loaded overnight and left port Thursday morning.

It's heading to Detroit with a load of 16,000 metric tonnes of salt.
