GOJHL Playoffs: Sugar Kings Sweep Hurricanes

Elmira 8 Guelph 3

The Elmira Sugar Kings are through to the GOJHL Conference Semifinals after a 8-3 victory over Guelph in Game 4.

The Sugar Kings scored four unanswered goals in the first period to take an early lead. Guelph scored three back-to-back goals in the first half of the second but Elmira answered each one before the period was over.

Elmira was 3-5 on the power play.

The Sugar Kings were led by Ethan Skinner with a pair of goals and two assists. Zack Cameron struck twice and set up another in the win. Jake Brown had a goal and two assists to also pick up three points.

Jonathan Reinhart earned the win with 25 saves. Kristian Hufsky stopped 6 of 13 shots before being replaced by Jacob Hutchings in the third who made 4 saves on 5 shots in relief.

Kitchener 4 Stratford 1

Gavin Apperson's goal less than two minutes into the second stood as the game winner as Kitchener beat Stratford 4-1. The Dutchmen now lead that series 3-1.

Stratford's Hayden Broomhead scored the Warriors lone goal with 50 seconds left in the game.

Ashton Stockie and Steven Farano each scored and had an assist for the Dutchmen.

Rock Boynton suffered the loss for Stratford making 36 saves. Jackson McIntosh earned the win for Kitchener with a 31 save performance.

Game 5 goes Thursday in Kitchener at 7:30 p.m.

London 7 St. Marys 1

The London Nationals for 3-4 on the power play in their 7-1 win against St. Marys. The Lincolns are now facing elimination as they trail the series 3-1.

Max Vinogradov led the Nationals with  two goals and an assist. Ethan Nother scored and set up two more for London.

Dan Cloutier was the lone scorer for the Lincolns. Jordan Kooy made 11 saves on 15 shots before being replaced in the second by Tristan Lewis. Lewis stopped 15 of 18 shots in relief.

The Lincolns face elimination when they visit London tonight at 7:30 p.m.
