GOJHL Playoffs Begin: Kitchener, Elmira, London Earn Wins

Kitchener 4 Stratford 3

The GOJHL playoffs began last night with the Kitchener Dutchmen taking narrow 4-3 victory in Game 1 in their series against Stratford.

Ashton Stockie scored the game winner for Kitchener at 14:16 of the third period. Just eight seconds earlier, Anthony Kotsovos had tied the game for the Warriors.

Ryan Nicholson led the Warriors with a pair of goals. Stockie led the Dutchmen with two goals.

Jackson McIntosh stopped 31 shots to earn the victory.

Elmira 7 Guelph 2

Elmira scored four times in the third period to beat Guelph 7-2 and win Game 1 of their quarter final series.

Klayton Hoelsher scored back-to-back power play goals in the third for the Sugar Kings, assisted by Jeff Jordan and Mitch Hoelscher both times. Jordan also had a goal for Elmira to pick up three points in the victory.

Jonathan Reinhart earned the win 34 saves.

London 6 St. Marys 3

The London Nationals scored three power play goals in the third to double the St. Marys Lincolns 6-3 in Game 1 of that quarter final series.

It was a back-and-forth affair until Michael Andlauer scored the game winner on the power play at 8:52 of the final frame. Ethan Nother added insurance with a power play goal just over two minutes later. Carson Brookshaw extended the Nationals lead on the power play at 13:12.

The Nationals outshot the Lincolns 49-27 and were 4-12 on the power play.

Carmeron Zanussi earned the win in net for London with 24 saves. Tristan Lewis put up a valiant effort in net for the Lincolns with a 43 save performance.
