An effort to bring Princess Margriet of the Netherlands to Huron County now has a third partner and a website.
Goderich residents Jim Rutledge and Sid Bruinsma have been working on the Dutch Liberation Event for some time now, and they've been joined by Patrick Nagel, who has constructed the website.
Nagel explains the goal of the project is to recognize the Dutch liberation and the Canadian Army's role in it, and tell that story while it's still a living memory.
They are hoping to do that with a visit by Princess Margriet. The two residents told Goderich council Monday night, the invitation has been extended and they are optimistic it could happen sometime this May.
Nagel says they're asking council for a grant of $10,000, and asking the town to accept a signed scroll from Princess Margriet marking her visit.
